The assignment: Design a popcorn box geared towards a specific marketing group, I chose gardeners.

It was rewarding to see the final design actually come together. Cutting it out was a real pain, but very effective in learning where, if any, design spaces needed to be changed or modified.

I finally finished the final logo for my logo class. The darn thing was driving me crazy. After I got it all turned in...I found out that the instructor for the class changed yesterday!! Grrr...now to cross my fingers and make sure that it gets graded. If I don't hear anything by Wednesday, I'll be calling the school.

Started my new class, Design & Composition yesterday. Three lessons, three exercises and an exam and I will have this one done as well. Barring some sort of major difficulty I am looking to have this one finished before the 16th. My timetable could be thrown off some if the instructor takes a long time in getting back the grades on each of the assignments. Here's hoping for speed!

Typography Exercise 2 Complete

I finally finished the 2nd exercise in Typography class. I don't know what it is with this particular class that is making me slightly crazy. It's not that I'm not able to do the work or make the grade (I got a 98 on the 2nd exercise). I think it is the off computer hands-on work that I need to do. It requires a lot of extra time.

Here are the latest assignment pieces:

The image on the left is the original composition. I used the uppercase Q and lowercase j letterforms to create the composition. The j looks like it is pushing the Q end-over-end up a hill.

The image below is a zoomed in selection from the top right of the original composition.

Typography class has been slow going. I don't know what it is exactly, but everything seems to be conspiring against me completing this particular class. It probably has a lot to do with the off line nature of the assignments. Here's to getting it done before October.

Newsletter Completed!

I submitted the final InDesign class assignment yesterday evening.

I thought for sure that the newsletter was going to kill me. Not so much from a technical standpoint, but from a time one. Work really got me distracted from getting this completed as quickly as I feel that I should have. Now time to sit back and wait to see what type of feedback that is to come from the instructor.

I've started my Fundamentals of Typography class last night as well. The first quizz went well, a 100. The first assignment involves doing some rubbings - it's going to take a few days to get that accomplished since I'm not out and about much during the work week.
